Joe O' Paddles

So, with three announced expeditions taking place this summer,

One in BC, the great lakes expedition and the Avalon of Newfoundland, its going to be a big year for Sea Kayaking, at least from my standpoint.

Its really quite exciting.

What about you Joe?  I'll be doing my 1300km trip with the production of a film on the east coast...

You going to go back lay claim to Van Island again?  Or you got your sights on something else?

What about any of the other paddlers other than Bryan Hansel on Superior?  Big trips? Exciting plans? Holiday planning? Overnights??  Whats the scoop on the gem known as Superior????

Well Superior is amazing! I'm planning a series of guidebooks on the entire north shore (the Canadian side) over the next few years. That will keep me pretty lusy locally.

For big Expeditions, I'm planning on going back out west and taking a shot at reclaiming my speed record for circumnavigating Vancouver Island. So that's my big one for 2009.  Been talking this week with a couple of designers regarding what boat I'll paddle for the record attampt. Certainly is going to be an awesome year!

Oh...and I'm also slated to do a 2 day, 200 kilometer canoe race in Quetico Provincial Park in August. So plenty of my plate right now between paddling races, expeditions, training as well as building my paddle line and expanding it, hopefully soon, into carbon fiber paddles as well...both canoe and kayak paddles.
